So not £30,000. Either the guardian editors are so filthy rich that a grand is an acceptable rounding error to them, or the average guardian reader can only understand numbers to one significant figure. I don’t know which is worse.
The woman said she quit her job because she felt „unpopular“, partly because of a Star Wars personality test, and yet tried to also sue the company for „unfair dismissal“. She sounds like a peach.
Also: People complain about things like the „nanny state“, „thought police“, and „health and safety gone mad“, but really those things stem from fear of litigation that awards large compensation for successful claims.
The next time you roll your eyes at HR, it’s just because they’re trying to avoid having to pay £30,000 out to someone you called Darth Vader.
I was expecting a bit more workplace bullying in the article, but it really was just Darth Vader. Still better than Jar Jar Binks.
„I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it any further.“
Sometimes I wish I’d get bullied at work so I could get a nice payout like this.
Anyone fancy calling me some names for a bit?
>In August 2021, members of Rooke’s team took a Star Wars themed Myers-Briggs questionnaire as a team-building exercise.
>…
>Rooke did not participate as she had to take a personal phone call but when she returned a colleague, Amanda Harber, had filled it out on her behalf and announced that she had the same personality type as Vader – real name Anakin Skywalker.
>The supervisor told the tribunal this outcome made her feel unpopular and was one of the reasons for her resignation the following month.
She got £30k for that? The correct response to that is to make a fairly lame joke or pun, and then move on. It’ll be forgotten in about 5 minutes.
Particularly given that she could surely just have said „let me fill it out, see if I get the same result?“
Is she annoyed that she was likened to him as a tough leader or that she’s a toady to a much bigger threat of Palpatine? How deep into expanded universe lore did this case get?

This is fucking hilarious.
This women decides that she is not receiving the respect she deserves from her peers, and angrily lashes out becoming the enemy of those who once supported and developed her…
…and her argument is that she is nothing like Darth Vader?
> she had the same personality type as Vader – real name Anakin Skywalker.
Guardian just casually doxxing people now eh?
This article is just so funny, I just can’t imagine this getting any further than a chat with a manager in any work place how the fuck did it go that far
For anyone taking the piss, do have a glance at the full *56 page* transcript.
The Darth Vader comparison was part of a jokey personality test and not treated seriously by the tribunal. The important part, largely ignored in coverage, is that the NHSBT was found to have retaliated against a whistleblower, which is a significant legal and ethical breach.

> Darth Vader is a legendary villain of the Star Wars series, and being aligned with his personality is insulting,” the employment judge Kathryn Ramsden said.
To be fair, he did murder a shit load of kids.
There really doesn’t seem to be much beyond this one incident, it’s not a last straw/tip of the iceberg type thing in a long running hostile environment.
People like this are miserable to work with.
I hate this and everything is encourages.
We had an employee who called in sick every monday for 7 months. She would talk about how she was partying but her excuse were all headache, fever, sickness etc.
when we had a meeting about her inane sickness she said she had anxiety and all her sickness was anxiety. Our hr service wanted us to pay her 25k to make the issue go away but we refused on principle. But my God did it drag on, and every joke anyone ever made all of a sudden became things that were deeply traumatic to her even though she actively participated in everything.
Too many people are reading these huge payout for petty minor things and trying for it.
>Vader – real name Anakin Skywalker.
Well that’s that bloody spoiled, thanks Guardian!
And when she makes her next job application, the company will look her up and see this and say „no thanks“. And the next one. And the next…
As she is a sith, they only deal with absolutes. They must sue, it’s all they know.
She’s also disabled
Is it possible that the clickbait headline is deliberately misleading?
If she was autistic and her colleague kept making comments about how ’non human‘ she was, and this test was the culmination of that, I could easily see this was discrimination and bullying.
As usual, the contact is completely left out
Can I get like £50K for the amount of harassment I got at school due to the fact I genetically have a large circumference skull?
Oh god people are so sad,
Ironically she joined the dark side
I need to see a related claim from Amanda Harber claiming that Rooke force-choked her.
I got an automated Reddit warning for posting a comment in this thread mentioning that famous Star Wars space station by name. The irony.
this is hilarious, 30k for that? please call me everything so i can get a small town home
