    1. This is going to absolutely crush the middle class. Partner with common goods exploding in price.

    2. Buntin_Carswell on

This is awful. Millions will have their paychecks cut. People are already struggling, this will make it so much worse.

    3. AnteaterPositive6939 on

You guys remember when he pretended to care about the working class?

    4. redhotchildpeppers on

Surely this will be done with the same care and patience the regime has shown the past few months so they’ll just steal from whoever they can.

    5. They are evil incarnate. They love causing suffering for those who are struggling. Doesn’t get any lower than that.

Maybe now we’ll start seeing more young people at the protests. I’ve been to seven protests so far and they’ve been 80% boomers.

    7. The_Navy_Sox on

I wonder if all the baby boomers who don’t have enough for their retirement and nursing homes realize they are about to rely on the group of people they gleefully are punishing. Baby boomers told everyone to go to college and now they bemoan those same colleges and celebrate when younger people are struggling with the debt boomers convinced them to take at 18. I will never understand how people celebrate those trapped in student debt.

God damn it, I don’t even know what the status of my loan is right now. I got emails during Biden saying they were forgiven for being less than 10k. Then I got more emails saying my loan had a new servicer.

    9. There must still be others things he can do to hurt Americans. (Social Security enters the chat).

    10. Maybe in the future more than 23% of 18-24 year old will bother to vote….

People won’t be able to pay their bills and live. We’re all ready squeezed to the max.

The „I’m not interested in politics“ crowd is about to get some bad political news in their Inbox.

    13. Bubbly-Two-3449 on

MAGA don’t care when the rich have a million dollars in PPP loans forgiven, but flip out when a social worker making $40k a year has her $10k in loans forgiven.

I think it’s because Fox News tells them what to be upset about and they bring out the pitchforks on command, rather than thinking clearly.

    14. He’s really trying to cultivate massive social unrest to justify military & law enforcement overreach.

    15. rantingathome on

I can pretty much guarantee that people that fully paid off their student loans years ago are going to start getting their wages garnished, and no amount of proof will change the government’s mind.

    16. University being free isn’t some sort of wild fantasy. College was free all over America until the racists decided they didn’t want to educate black people and other minorities.

That being said, this fool knows what he’s doing and he knows the timing is bad. These loans were predatory and given to people who were mentally children.

    17. pursuitofleisure on

I hope everyone who’s wages get garnished remember to vote next time

    18. What about the loans that were given to politicians at the start of the pandemic? Does Large Marge, for example, have to pay back her loan now?

    19. Greengiant2021 on

Taking the students pennies from their minimum wage jobs….this Administration has to go🤬

    20. DramaticWesley on

With Biden trying to cancel student loans and Trump garnishing wages for them, I hope this makes a few extra million Democrats for the next few elections.

    21. RealPersonResponds on

Nice, less money for them to survive on, less spending, less sales, slower economy.

    22. beer_bukkake on

Don’t forget, it was George W Bush who made student loans excluded from bankruptcy

    23. BerryReal7961 on

Call the student loan services department now. You can negotiate your payment plan with them and try to pay as little as possible. You wont make a dent in your overall balance but it will get you out of default and avoid having your wages garnished.

    24. khowidude87 on

I just started making $19 hr, my degree did not work out. So I need to suffer more?

    25. barringtonmacgregor on

Sure wish they’d target all those loans they gave out during covid. I know a few businesses who bought new cars, a new horse, and continued paying employees under the table. Loans all forgiven.

But I guess it’s better to fuck the poor than the wealthy.

    26. Prudent-Blueberry660 on

We should garnish Trumps wages for the money he still owes to cities for his little nazi rallies…

    27. Amarillopenguin on

Friendly reminder that King Trump doesn’t pay his debts. The time to protest is now.

    28. What a great way to really ensure there’s a recession or depression starting this summer. Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

But hey, I’m sure C students that are still living in their hometowns that are filled with hate and that post AI slop/misinformation on facebook will absolutely love this. Those are the only americans that matter anymore.

    29. Corrective_Actions1 on

Nothing says „have kids“ like garnishing young peoples wages.

    30. How about garnishing the wages of billionaires who don’t pay taxes? They certainly have the cash flow to accommodate it.

    31. It’s so absolutely fucked that Republican voters will support this because none of the toothless yokels have student loans.

I can talk about this infinitely, but the PSLF program was signed into law by George W. Bush in 2007. It had nearly unanimous bipartisan support. Nobody said a fucking word about it until 2017, when the first wave of eligible borrowers were up to have their loans forgiven, then MAGICALLY it “wasn’t fair” to people who had paid theirs off already.

Who, pray tell, was the President in 2017? And who was the Sec of Ed? That’s right folks – two people who have never paid a loan in their lives, and couldn’t balance their personal bank accounts on their own if their lives depended on it. These people were now in charge of the biggest student loan relief program in the history of our country, and they LITERALLY broke the law with the way they mishandled it.

The PSLF program was so fucked until Biden finally did something about it in 2021, and of course scumbag Republicans did nothing but fight it. They had NOTHING to say until money actually started making it back into regular people’s pockets, and now they have gone out of their way to fuck people over again.

Republicans are truly reprehensible, disgusting people. Every single one of them.

    32. Wait a minute.. am I reading this correctly…?

Retirees will have their Social Security checks garnished. This country is fucked if you’ve been out of college for 20+ years and are still having to pay for it. JFC.

    33. Meanwhile, nearly 800 billion in PPP loans were forgiven, but hey people in the comments, keep up the anger directed at poor college students who had to default.
