China doesn’t get involved in a war.
Combatants in that war treat China as though they aren’t involved.
The Atlantic Council is appalled by such a dastardly trick.
I think China doesn’t realize what they have done with this.
By supporting this against Europe, they both push Europe, especially the trade powers in the Mediterranean like Greece, closer to America, and show that this strategy works. What happens when „terror groups“ in India start bombing China’s trade through the Strait of Malacca? Or when America closes the Panama Canal?
By using asymmetric commerce war, they have shattered the system; their own power is built upon it. China, unlike America, doesn’t have the capability or network to try to stop it. Israel could start bombing the Chinese ships in the Suez, or just take the Suez again, and there is literally nothing China could do about it.
Freedom of the Seas is dead, and the countries without expeditionary navies are going to suffer the most. (Russia, China, Germany, Italy, Greece, India, Brazil, etc.) America, Britain, and Japan can escort their ships and do traditional gunboat diplomacy; no one else really can.
