I made this using American Community Survey data from the Census Bureau; the full code is linked to in the demo for the data transformation and visualization.

Open to any feedback! If you’ve lived in NYC during these years I’m curious whether the shifts in the data align with your experience.

In my opinion the crazy amount of colors is not very helpful

Could have just a slicer to isolate specific sectors (also option for sum of all the categories or subset of the sectors chosen), and/or when multiple sectors are picked have multiple bars side by side for easy comparison
