      What about the tallest indigenously build statue on each continent, since the Statue of Liberty was designed, built, and gifted by the French? What is the tallest statue in North America built by North Americans?

      Looking at this again, I do not think that most records actually count the pedestal as part of the statue do they? That seems like cheating. By this metric, you could put a Ninja Turtle figurine on top of the CN Tower and claim it to be the tallest statue in North America.

      I know the statue in India is an important figure, but I also find it hilarious that it just looks like a tired dude standing in line at the DMV.

      To those thinking why the heck India made this statue kindly remember that sardar vallabhai Patel (statue guy) negotiated , used force in some cases to united all 565 princely kingdoms with directly control British residencies to form the borders of modern republic of india . For me this is a act much better than gandhis shitty peaceful resistant.

      Heights are mixed up, Height of Christ the King is with pedestal, Statue of Unity without.

      Although i’m not sure if it counts as it’s mostly buried in ice.

      The statue of columbus in Puerto Rico is 110m, the tallest in the entire western hemisphere.

      This map doesn’t show the fact that 10 out of 10 of the biggest statues are in Asia. So it’s a bummer we’re not seeing the other nine giant Asian statues that eclipse the other continents

      It’s truly something that all of these Statues are relatively close to their respective continent’s Coasts, Dakar’s one is the most surprising to me.
