Unfortunately, no. This is an old leva that was denominated in 1999. Most likely it isn’t worth anything

I remember going to the local shops and asking if they have the new money back in the when the change happened. The hyperinflation wasn’t fun, but I still have fond memories of my childhood.

  3. No . These were withdrawn from circulation in 1999 . By the time they were withdrawn from circulation they had become basically worthless .And they are still basically worthles , especially in circulated condition .

On the bright side – this is a really cool note – on one side you have Ivan Vazov – the National Poet of Bulgaria and on the other the harp is a special award , awarded to him on the occasion of his 70th birthday in 1920 .

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I will just keep it for myself.

  5. You can imagine that this jacket hasn’t been worn until at least 1999, if not earlier. Either that or this was the lucky banknote of someone in Bulgaria, crazy when you think about it.

These are the old Bulgarian money and no you can’t use them anywhere. This was before the denomination which happened in 1999 and this is equal to 2 BGN (1€) of today’s currency.
