This hardly seems controversial. Drug use has been acknowledged to cause significant issues in the immediate community and concentrating that drug use near schools and daycares seems inappropriate.
This isn’t much more onerous than the 150m rule for weed shops.
200m is a very short distance and well within eye shot and a short walk. Seems like a do nothing program to make folks feel like he is doing something.
Thank goodness.
This doesn’t go far enough, but it’s a start. It’s quite clear though that public opinion is shifting strongly against pro-drug policies, and that within a decade we may actually start enforcing drug laws again.
An unscientific and, frankly, reckless decision whose only purpose is to gain favour with the “hUrR dUrR wAr On DrUgS” conservative base.
The science is overwhelmingly clear that safe consumption sites save lives, reduce the burden on our healthcare system and make safer, healthier communities for everyone. Shutting them down WILL cost lives, increase the strain on our hospitals and make our communities more dangerous.
