Here is a liberal policy I can get behind 100%, provided it is actually well implemented and money doesn’t just disappear with only a fraction of the funds going to feed hungry kids.

I absolutely love this, but I’d prefer if they put 110% of their efforts in building rental stock. Housing is a national crisis, and we’re not treating it like it is.

There are [4.96 million students](https://www.statista.com/statistics/449110/enrollment-in-public-elementary-and-secondary-schools-in-canada-by-province) enrolled in public elementary or secondary schools in Canada. There are about [190 school days per year](https://www.ontario.ca/page/school-year-calendars).
One billion dollars over five years is 200 million a year.
That’s $40 per child per year or $0.21 per child per day for a “good, healthy life”.
The math doesn’t add up for me.
