tldr; U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has declined an invitation to speak at the Bitcoin Conference, according to Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey. Bailey expressed no surprise at her decision, criticizing her for actions against the crypto industry. Earlier, there was speculation about Harris’ potential appearance, with Bailey suggesting it could be beneficial for her to engage with the crypto community. Despite outreach efforts from the crypto community and interest in fostering dialogue, Harris has not made any public statements about cryptocurrency. The news reflects ongoing tensions between political figures and the crypto industry.

This space is so bipolar. Yesterday I read two articles saying she would be attending. How cool would it be to have her VS Trump talking Bitcoin. It would be huge. Now I see that it was just a rumor

This is what they said: “Kamala Harris will not be speaking @TheBitcoinConf. No surprise. What can she say to us when she’s actively imprisoning developers, forcing our industry overseas, attacking PoW… it would have been a disaster for her.”

I think this was to be expected. I’d have been super surprised if she did turn up!

Yet this sub keeps gaslighting that there wouldn’t be a difference on crypto based on who’s president 🤣

She hasn’t even been in the running for a week yet. It honestly would be weird if she appeared at a bitcoin conference as one of her first appearances. It was an unsourced rumor she was going to attend anyway. She realistically doesn’t understand bitcoin in the slightest. She might even hate it. But I think dems have realized this isn’t the hill they want to die on. Sounds like they’re already trying to pivot. It’s lip service from both sides. I doubt Trump is planning to convert any significant portion of his wealth to bitcoin. The good news is, either way, we win. Trump brought it into the limelight. Politicians have to take a stance. And you only lose votes by being anti crypto. You don’t win them. We are clear for takeoff.

psa: do not expect leaders that are clearly entangled with big money, wall street and the lot, to do anything for crypto without being either forced or paid to do so.

It may come as a surprise to some people in this sub but crypto is not the center of the universe for everyone and in the two days she’s had to start a presidential campaign I doubt this particular conference was really an option 🙂 So you can be angry and vote for the old fraudster who panders and sells worthless NFTs and represents all of the *worst* aspects of crypto or you can vote in the next generation who might have a chance of understanding it and being convinced by the good parts of the tech. Chaos is not good for crypto.

99% of crypto scene is fake news, fake projects, fake people and fake currency. I am so tired of the whole topic.

I dunno…if you look at the list of existing guest speakers this years Bitcoin conference, it’s just a shit show of pump ‘n dumpers.

Kinda a good thing Kamala sits this out IMHO.
