    > “Canada’s founding insight is that unity does not require uniformity,” he said during a closing speech at the Liberal national convention in Montreal on Saturday afternoon.

    > “Pragmatic decisions that have become a moral conviction — that our differences are a strength to be nurtured, not a risk to be managed.”

Oh this will change when he gets is +1 majority. It will 100% be „toe that line or else.“

It doesn’t matter in a healthy majority, but in a slim majority? Yeah that party line is pretty razor sharp.

On a different note, it’s clear that Gladu has chapped some Liberal asses at this convention. The door to opportunity isn’t just wider than ever for the NDP, it basically has a neon welcome sign for them *if* they choose to capitalize on it.

Which they won’t, of course, because they’ll be searching for a red equity card holder to enter first, which will be disputed by an orange card holder and then a point of privilege will be raised about the lack of a ramp (obvious /j).

One year in, and Canada feels less like a country and more like a mid-sized hedge fund with a really nice flag.

  3. This speech was delivered more to please the audience in Québec. Otherwise to promote differences as being a „strength“ ,especially in these complicated times, it’s almost irresponsible.

I don’t think you ask for a better message than that?

Canada is a very diverse country and you’d be hard pressed to find uniformity in opinions when talking to people from Saskatchewan and Quebec, or BC and Ontario. It doesn’t mean we can’t be united though.

Mark Carney is the Malcolm Turnbull of Canada. Hope Carney meets the same fate as Turnbull by 2029.

I’m satisfied with that as an explanation. Every team needs to have members wearing different hats. Gladyu is the black hat and presumably one of the most important, if my reference is obvious enough.
