Colbert isn’t leaving the zeitgeist. Just his show. He’ll start a podcast or a talk show from his basement or something and be bigger than ever.
Paul Harvey could be considered. He was very underrated but his stories were always enlightening and prophetic.
For me it is Johnny Carson.
I think Jon Stewart has been more consistent in that space. Didn’t need the faux-conservative personality, didn’t downgrade to interviewing movie stars about their latest films and his work in government to support responders who got sick from 9/11 yielded real results.
I agree, I LOVE Stephen Colbert, I remember being like 7-8 years old and watching the Colbert report, obviously I didn’t know enough about the world to find it funny but I liked the faces he made. Up until Covid maybe I used to watch him daily (I’d watch his monologue the next morning) and to this day I’ll still watch good snippets or a very well received monologue.
On top of that, I love how big of a nerd he is, he could probably talk 24 hours straight on his love for lord of the rings. He has such a great energy, his love for his wife shines whenever he mentions her, especially during Covid when she was his audience. He’s just so great and I always hope the best for him
No offense, but he left the zeitgeist when the Colbert report ended
They FREED colbert. He isn’t going anywhere.
