If the Sun chain is now publishing editorial hit jobs on Poilievre, you know the jig is up. Postmedia floated some critical pieces last summer, but then fell into line, but I suspect that, in between the attacks on the predatory anti-democratic Mark Carney, the leading lights of the Tories‘ Pravda news chains will start building the framework for Poilievre’s ouster, and will be busily working with the party apparatchik behind the scenes to find a new leader plus one or two credible but completely doomed runners‘ up.
Exactly. If you’re Poilievre & 40% of your caucus is concerned about the party under your leadership, staffers/ex-staffers are coming out of the woodwork to criticize you to the media, your communications director quits, the moderate wing of the party feels increasingly unwelcome in it because of you and even an MP like Gladu (who’s technically one of your own) is now leaving the party because they view your leadership and destabilizing, then there’s literally no one left to blame for what’s happening to your party. Then on top of all of that, you have the Sun of all organizations blaming you for it (which a year ago I never would have thought was possible.)
One or two of these on their own can maybe be written off, but together it shows a clear and consistent pattern of somebody that’s completely unfit for leadership.
It’s a pretty open secret in Ottawa that Poilievre was never well liked by anyone, even in his own party ever since he got into politics. Why the CPC chose him as leader escapes me. I get that it was largely because of blowback from Trudeau, but they could have chosen someone far better.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say Poilievre has set the party back a decade. They’re also going to lose the next election under him and then have to regroup.
