Thank you, LPC, for encouraging competition in Canada. This only helps the consumer. I’m sick of 40k entry Sedans.

Yeah I’ll be buying one soon as they are available in Vancouver

  3. He said never because in 2024 it was just inconceivable that the US would act like it as acted since Trump got elected.

Back then, even if Trump was going to be elected again, nobody on the political sphere would think it would get this bad.

Of course, most politicians are self serving morons too.

So? geo-political conditions change and it’s not a bad thing to adapt your views.

Pretty sure Trump had something to do with the pivot. Maybe they are trying to keep Canada on a good footing.

If we are okay with Chinese-made iPhones, drones, and 90% of our electronics, then I don’t see the problem with Chinese EVs. If they can run side by side with Teslas in major European countries, Aus NZ, then they can run here also.

The major argument is that it will cause havoc with our auto manufacturing jobs. IMO, this is a weak argument. Canadian auto jobs are fully dependent on the US, and look what they are doing, shutting down plants. Also, not giving Canadians choices to buy cheaper options isn’t great. If the Chinese EVs aren’t great, then they will be out of the market.

Thank you Trump for destroying the Auto Pack that helped our two countries prosper together. /s

Canada must do the same Brazil did. Welcomed the Chinese EVs on the basis of lots of investment and that plants would be built in Brazil to generate jobs & knowledge transfer

Loyalty to the US affected our decisions in 2024. Now that they’ve proven disloyal to us, we can ignore their wants.

  11. Cheap EVs need to happen and if this is the way, so be it.

With most of the electricity in this country being hydroelectric, it just makes sense. EVs shouldn’t only be a high end vehicle.
