Until youth unemployment gets better and the standard of living improves in this country I have a hard time seeing how this is going to resonate with Canadians…

Because he wants to ensure he eliminates any potential bounce the NDP received post-leadership win.

  3. And why the NDP will never govern, we imported way too many people than the system can handle. I don’t think Avi Lewis even fails to understand this.

I don’t get it. This is obviously a polarizing issue. Why do they have to announce it like this. It’s obviously not for the votes. This issue alone makes them un-electable to so many people.

Ah yes, increase immigration to flood the market with low wage workers. This will help the average labourer how? This party is bullshit and Avi Lewis is a socially performative clown.

Sooooo, the NDP is going to continue being the party that does the opposite of what the majority wants?

    Cool.

Avi is going to make transition from him to Wab seamless, if he lasts that long.

Of course he does. Why would we want wages to rise or infrastructure to catch up with population growth? Everything’s going great and since there’s no abuse of the system, it only makes sense to bring in millions and millions of Indians.

“The prime minister has created a deportation system that rivals the US, the new party chief says”

I must have missed cities being run over by immigration officers. The NDP isn’t serious. Also can we stop importing American issues into Canada it’s tiresome.

The NDP lost the Canadian plot years ago, Avi Lewis is just trying to draft his own Canadian fan fiction at this point.

  10. The only reason we need more immigrants is if we’re expected to carry on like these giant corporations demand.

Stop listening to the rich. They are working for shareholders, not the average Canadian.

Simplify our lives. Stop telling us we don’t understand.

Bring the price of everything down. I say this as a person that had to bite the bullet and overpay for a house in 2022. I don’t care if I’m at a slight loss, people need homes. People need to feel respected and they need to feel like they matter

The new world we live in is just soul crushing.

The NDP has absolutely no clue what they are doing.

Someone needs to take this part out behind the shed and put it out if it’s misery.

As south park said „Wok is Dead“.

Canadians are broke. We can’t afford homes. We’re competing with half the world for minimum wage jobs. And somehow the NDP „worker party“ pushes a blatently anti-worker policy.

  12. This guy is downright scary:
    – he thinks anyone who arrives in Canada should get permanent residency in arrival.
    – that we should welcome way more international students
    – that international students should pay the same tuition as domestic students.

Forget giving Canadians an incentive to have kids, let’s just keep bringing in people from countries that are known for prolific reproduction. /s

  14. This is the real reason why the title has a framing that he just wants to raise it and that ignores that he also wants reform it:

    – We will end provincial rules that restrict and tie foreign workers to specific employers. We will end limits based on sector, hours, occupation, or category—restrictions that make workers vulnerable.

    – We believe we should create a network of reception centres for refugees across the country, with real funding for shelters and housing. We also need to fix credentialling problems. Many people come to Canada because of their skills, but credentialling issues prevent them from using the skills they brought with them.

I gave the whole quote, but broke it into two – the first paragraph is why you will see the media paint his position in the most inflammatory way possible.

Big industry does not want to see an end to these things.
