I’m not entirely sold on Magyar, but as long as he’ll tell Russia to fuck off, then I will think of him in the same way as I think of Meloni in Italy.

Hungary does need change, and any change that also includes the middle finger to Putin, I’m all for.

  2. Transcipt (translated) from the same speech if anyone is curious:

Maybe the subversion, maybe Putin’s propaganda, has worked elsewhere; maybe the troll farms and other shenanigans, the fake assassination attempts, and all sorts of farcical theatrics have worked elsewhere. But it won’t work in Hungary. Hungarians are a freedom-loving people. They don’t like being told how to make decisions or how to vote. Please note, we are about to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Revolution, and the majority of the Hungarian people are working to ensure that on October 23, we can finally do so in a truly free, truly independent, sovereign, European Hungary.

We will also be voting on this on April 12. And we can reaffirm Hungary’s -our beloved homeland’s- commitment to the European Union. For St. Stephen already designated this country’s place in the world. Our kings, our queens, our saints, our ancestors, our princes, and many millions of Hungarians worked, fought, and often gave up their freedom and their lives so that we might belong to Europe.

No matter what this power does, no matter who it sends here -even Vladimir Putin himself- Viktor Orbán can go wherever he pleases, beyond the Urals or even to Chad, but we will remain here. Hungary’s place was, is, and will always be in Europe.

And I might even say, “Bye-bye, Sasha!”

Don’t know much about the guy, seems pragmatic, seeks to distance Hungary from the Kremlin, he wants to rebuild trust with EU/NATO and end vetoes and seeks a gradual exit from Russian energy by 2035.
Even though he come from the same political party of Orban i think he will do a better job than Orban .
