      Nearly 70% of the homeless are men.

      Seems some areas of journalism will look for any niche to avoid talking about such a huge issue

      Meh, I just think people’s empathy is used up when they see GenX fuck up so hard despite having significant advantage.

      Case and point the wording in the article talks about how this guys lower leg was amputated after he broke his ankle and developed sepsis- after he “was not able to look after it properly”. Weird wording, and it quite explicitly attributes blame to the guy.

      Then I think ‘of course the guy is homeless he can’t look after his own injured foot’, empathy all run out.

      But also, screw him, I have a hugely inflated mortgage on a property that 30 years ago would have been worth 30% what it is now, whilst everything else has shot up except wages (proportionally). Millennials and Gen Z have it much harder and are all just a few poor decisions away from financial ruin, which is not what his generation were afforded.

      I was made homeless at 50 and lived in my vehicle for 2 years, unlike this ‚gentleman‘ not once did I shit in a park
