This is what happens in every major war. Weapons need to be produced in greater numbers and so production has to be simplified and streamlined to meet those goals.
This happened with the Kar98K, Mosin Nagant, Carcano, Lee-Enfield, Arisaka, Thompson, Grease Gun, Sten, MP40, G43, SVT-40, and so many other firearms. Some of these were streamlined by reducing or changing weapon markings, to extreme cases like Arisaka with dropping butt plates, dust covers, simplified sights, removing cleaning rod, and rougher finishes. Weapons like the Grease gun and Sten were already designed to be mass produced quickly and were simplified to be mass produced even quicker.
