Love to smile and wave at people who pass me just ahead of a light. Then, when arriving at the light, stopped right next to them, I smile and wave at them again. Hello there speedy
That’s a funny way to write „cars that weave back and forth between lanes while going 20 over are putting themselves and other drivers at risk for absolutely no benefit“.
> He also noted that the study made a number of assumptions, among them that cars travel at constant speed between lights with no acceleration when a light changes to green or deceleration when it changes to red.
Oh, so it’s completely worthless.
My GPS tells me what time I’m going to get to work. If I drive fast and aggressive I get there at that time and get 22mpg. If I just sit behind a truck doing 63mph and relax and listen to music, I still get there at the same time and get 37mpg
It sucks to be stuck behind a slow moving car. It doesnt matter if they “catch up” or not.
Slow drivers are entitled as they take no-one else’s time into consideration „well I’m not in a hurry so you shouldn’t be either“.
My step brother and I had nearly identical cars and I was spending less on gas. The big difference is that he’s one of those people who will speed up just so he can be first to wait at the next light. I accelerate more carefully and brake a lot less, plus I try to avoid ever accelerating uphill. It is significant how much gas you can actually save by driving with it in mind.
There’s only one correct speed to drive and that’s exactly where I set my cruise. Anyone driving slower than that is an idiot and anyone driving fast is clearly a maniac.
That’s because they weren’t slow cars. They were normal speed cars, but in front of you.
Considering the sheer number of slow ass drivers on the road, I think it’s a guaranteed outcome. You overtake one slow car just to have to do it again 5 seconds later.
For me personally, it’s not about going faster than the car I’m over taking. It’s that they have demonstrated, in some form, that they are very poor at maintaining the flow of traffic, shown carelessness behind the wheel (texting and such), or inattentiveness, and if I’m to be held captive in traffic, it will not be behind someone who hasn’t a clue of what they are doing.
I see this phenomenon a lot when I’m riding my bike. Drivers get impatient and whip around me, but I wind up right behind them at the next light.
