      The White House on Tuesday denied reports that the US is considering using nuclear weapons against Iran, dismissing claims that remarks by Vice President JD Vance had suggested this.

      So, they’re going to stick to conventional war crimes and mass murder? Got it.

      Who knows what they’re going to do at this point. They wouldn’t telegraph it if they’re going to use nuclear weapons, but in all likelihood, they’re going to just continue doing what they’re doing now. The administration knows its followers love this drama.

      At this stage, a denial is almost a confirmation.  

      Deny hitting a girls school.  

      Deny planning to depose Venezuelan president  

      Deny supporting Russian goals in peace negotiations with Ukraine  

      Deny planning a war against Iran  

      Deny existence of documents/evidence implicating high level political officials (including the President) in the Epstein Files   

      Yeah, denial ain’t worth shit. The fact they had to say this means they are considering it.

      But it worked against Japan in the WWII? The alternative would have been being drawn into a long bloody brutal conventional war. Nuclear weapons led to Japan’s unconditional surrender and saved countless American lives. I guess I don’t understand why we can’t in Iran? We should do whatever it takes to achieve our mission objectives and take down this brutal terrorist regime.

      I guess if nuclear weapons are used this will be the end of the US as we know it. It would become a pariah state. Moreover it would likely to cause Chinese and Russian direct involvement and very very likely official WWIII. Unofficially it is already going on.

      I finished work, cycling home and can’t focus, had to stop. Even as an emotionless French man I can’t believe how close we are to having a maniac dropping a nuke on a non-nuclear country for reasons we don’t even really understand.

      Solidarity to everyone out there with an ounce of compassion and let’s hope he’s all bluff.

      The White house is not a credible source. If anything this makes it seem more likely they will use nukes

      Is setting the bar at nuclear strikes meant to anchor the discourse such that using conventional weapons on civilians is palatable?

      Are nukes even needed for the US to destroy Iran’s population centers? From my understanding the US has complete (or near complete) control of Iran’s skies and could just drop conventional bombs and launch missiles with impunity. The US wouldn’t have to face the backlash of using nukes if it has the power to destroy Iran with conventional methods. Unless the US doesn’t have conventional methods to destroy cities but I don’t think that is the case?
