  1. Generative ai is not real ai and CANNOT CREATE. IT CAN ONLY COPY WHAT IT SEES AND REGURGITATE A COMBINATION OF WHAT WAS FED TO IT!

AI doesn’t create anything, it regurgitates work stolen from living artists.

That’s because „creative“ writing created by AI is generally dogshit. Am I biased? Yes. Am I wrong? Hell, no.

  4. They also judge writing harsher if they suspect it was written by Hitler. Maybe if AI wasn’t responsible for rampant job loss, high energy prices, degraded customer service, or enabled widespread abuse by those in positions of power, then it wouldn’t be so negatively judged.

    It’s Walmart.

I can go down to a local vendor and buy a hand-made coffee mug. It builds an emotional connection with me and becomes more meaningful knowing the time and thought that went into it.

Or I can go to Walmart and get 8 mass-produced coffee mugs for the same price.

  6. People are missing the point slightly here? It’s saying people will judge creative writing more harshly if they _believe_ it was written by AI, even if it was written by a human. That’s a different conversation, and an interesting one.

  7. It’s because AI writing has a specific style that it consistently uses. I’m not just talking about the overuse of em dashes, but everything it writes sounds like a script of a TED Talk. The overuse of one word sentences are some of the biggest giveaways.

That writing style is awful to read in the form of a novel or short story. It’s all over LinkedIn – I think 90% of the content there is written by AI.

  8. Language is humanity’s single greatest achievement. Everything we’ve ever done extends from it.

  9. This can be reworded as a human preference for art, because AI can’t actually create art.

  10. Why would anyone be awed by AI art? We made AI, it’s just a tool and by definition cannot be creative.

  11. Good. Generative ai has no place in creative spaces. Fuck it and the people that use it

The conversation should: the masses generally reject AI. It is overwhelming being pushed on society by a group of people destined to escape the products they create.
