      **In Brief:**

      * When it comes to Cuba, whose tourism has sunk due to a U.S. oil blockade, just over half of Canadians say to send aid even if the U.S. might not like it.
      * A new Angus Reid poll that found 51% of Canadians want Canada to provide aid while 31% believe maintaining positive relations with U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration is more important.
      * So far, Canada has supplied $8 million in humanitarian aid, mostly to help improve Cuba’s food security.
      * The poll founds 34% say that amount is enough support from Canada while 32% want their country to do more to assist and 19% believe Canada should be doing less than that or should not have sent aid at all.

      I would like to send aid to my own country to combat rising cost of food, clothing, gas, housing and basic existence. Oh yeah … taxes, right… which keep getting pissed away on other countries. Got it

      We don’t have to interject and be the worlds saviour to every crisis. Yes it’s a good thing to do and that’s what Canada has been doing, but we lost shape of what we become at home. We try to appear like we’re sucha great country that gives hand outs while people at home are struggling and it’s only getting worse.

      If you want more context on this:

      2025 was the last time Cuba and Russia moved towards potentially getting nuclear arms into the country through discussions.

      If the Citizens of North Korea were under similar conditions in North Korea, what % of Canadians would support sending oil/aid?

      Not that there isn’t any incentive for nations not to arm themselves with nukes, in the new global landscape. But in the past nations were punished for trying to do so such as Cuba as recent as 2025, and North Korea who successfully did so.

      Im just sick of paying so much in taxes without seeing any of it. With our country the way it is all of my worries from these donations have absolutely nothing to do with trump. Who cares avout him? You guys anti trumpers are just as insufferable as the actual maga crowd. You are canadian…..not american….

      Why do we care about the US or Cuba? We don’t really have shackles to throw around to other countries let’s send aid to our own country. The whole let’s help every lost puppy with tax payer dollars is ridiculous

      Yup. There’s a huge void left with US now an authoritarian state essentially. Canada should try to step up with foreign aid, where and when it can.
