      This should have been the headline when Macron was elected in 2017.

      *I landed in Paris the day he was elected. As soon as the plane touched down the pilots announced it. Everyone cheered. I had also started a new job back home in the US around then. I remembered it as 2019, but now that I think about it, this was like July 2017 or thereabouts.

      I am a Dane who used to view the US a solid ally. Today i view Trumps America as an enemy of my country and my continent. The US is currently a terror state working in conjunction with Israel, another terror state, to bomb civilian bridges in a third terror state.

      I mean, he’s pretty much pissed off most countries; even the ones which were arguably closest to the US.

      Even if the dems win the mid terms heavily, I don’t see the relationships fixing back. There will be pragmatism I’m sure, but I don’t think it’s ever going to be what it was. As we are seeing news reports now of many trying to begin decoupling.

      This is coming from someone who lives in a country which is very pro US and closely allied.

      Sensible. Trump deserves criticism and diplomatic and economic means should be used to oppose the US and penalize Israel including criminal convictions.

      Why don’t Americans get treated like North Korea or Russia. Just ignore them and freeze. You could take the top 5 „on the dictator/evil list of countries“, and they will combined not have done as much evil as the Americans have done. How many countries did Iran invade in the last decade again? How many schools and houses did Iran bomb overseas?

      Americans have done much worse than any country during their short history.

      No other country has managed to make war, depose, bully or even arm their own enemies in such a very short time as the Americans have. All the tragedies in South America are particularly interesting. The young nation is only 250 years old and has managed to be at war for about 226 of those years. Maybe start minding your own business and cultivate some culture and decency of your own.

      That they also neglect themselves, their own healthcare and school systems says all you need to know. How can a people have such wealth and squander it in all the worst ways.

      I’m sure post-trump EU will require US to enable some reforms to prevent that kind of shitshow to happen again. Will require to get back on a careful pre-trump footing, maybe.

      Similar to how EU requires reforms from its own members to uphold democracy and rule of law, so that they are eliglible for eu aid and programs.

      We cant deal with US that is one day obama, second day trump. Maybe we are allies, maybe we will sell you to russia, feeling random idk.

      Even before Trump, the alliance was really US subservience.

      We’ve been trying to tax big US tech for over 20 years and the State Department lobby hard and threaten if we get close to it. Lots of nice words in public, but the infrastructure of state has always been zero sum fighting for America. And it won “bigly”.

      Middle powers need to walk away, join the BRICS payment system, and leave the US to do whatever it wants all by itself in the Western hemisphere. But we absolutely need to band together to push the US out of Europe and Asia Pacific regions.
