>However, a letter from a nurse practitioner dated Feb. 20, 2026, said that Solomon-Umazi “reports long-standing anxiety and psychological distress related to ongoing immigration uncertainty, worsening over the past several months following denial of an immigration application.”
>And a letter from a psychiatrist said he has no history of psychiatric problems and that “his symptoms of anxiety and depression result from the issuance of the removal order.”
>“The medical evidence thus establishes a clear correlation between Mr. Solomon-Umazi’s recent mental health issues and his imminent removal from Canada,” the court decision said.
>But you can’t prevent your removal from Canada because you are depressed about being removed from Canada, the court ruled.
>“While I have sympathy for the difficulties faced by Mr. Solomon-Umazi, this is not a situation where his existing mental health condition is deteriorating due to his imminent removal,” the judge wrote.
Regardless of what you think Canada’s immigration system should look like, trying to justify not deporting someone because they’re supposedly „stressed about the deportation process“ is absolute lunacy. Happy to see we’re highlighting instances where judges seemingly make sound decisions and not just cherry-picking all the inflammatory ones.
Racism.
I think a lawsuit with heavy punitive damages is in order.
Drug Trafficking = Automatic Deportation.
Glad the judge didn’t interfere.
When can we move this guy’s removal along?
Find a therapist in your home country. 🤷♂️
Guy is depressed his actions have consequences! lol
Foreigners convicted of crimes should be automatically removed from this country. Period. If you come to this country to participate in criminal activity you should be removed, it’s not controversial.
This specific individual wasn’t a refugee until that was seen as his last option to stay. He didn’t have mental health issues until that was his next option at an attempt to say. Shameful.
He came here and sold drugs and tried to pray on our systemic sympathy to stay. The courts did the right thing by denying his claims.
Being in canada is a privilege. I, as an immigrant from a shitty country know it. We are lucky to be here and if you mess up, you gotta go.
What’s to be depressed about?
Nigeria sounds pretty good for an honest industrious Nigerian.
