Geez. I need a drink after reading this. But on the bright, if one drink is going to give me cancer I might as well have 8 more.

Before anyone freaks out about having a few beers on the weekend, it should be noted that drinking at moderate levels poses an extremely small risk of developing cancer, like less than a 1% increase over baseline. The majority of the risk goes to heavy / binge drinkers who have been drinking for decades.

I’m not trying to downplay the risks of alcohol, and there are other health effects besides cancer, but people who drink responsibility and moderately don’t really need to worry.

Do these studies ever compare health outcomes of social drinkers with those of alcohol abstainers who instead inhale THC and lock themselves in a room in front of a screen? I get the sense there would be some interesting results.

  4. Elephants and chimpanzees are just two of the mammals that actively seek out alcohol, there seems to be some inherent wiring involved
