Who is going to be the England (hated by everyone) of Eurovision Asia?

(I’m English I can say this)

  3. Eurovision just hoping Asian countries don’t care enough about Israel to boycott like several European countries are.

  4. When people have asked me “What is kpop? How do I understand it?” I’ve always replied with “It’s like Eurovision on steroids and better clothes” (this is the only thing a Norwegian will understand, they will not understand if I explain further than that) 😂

…but Eurovision? I hope they can make it better than the original. I’ve boycotted it every year since 2012, and have felt like an outsider in my own country for not keeping up with it (but come on, we Norwegians should have more than ESC and sports to keep up with..?)

Eurovision Asia? we actually already had that, it’s called Asia Bagus

  6. Fun fact, Bhutan randomly held a Eurovision Asia 2025 national final last year completely out of the blue. Anyways I’m amazed this is finally happening after being dead in the water for so long.

  7. Hopefully they’ll keep the Eurovision version of happening all in one week/only a final instead of the American version copying Melfest and flopping.

Though realistically, what’s the most likely amount of countries that’ll end up participating?

  8. I understand its a brand but it just looks so funny to call it Eurovision Asia.

  9. Hope Australia is in. They started the idea in the first place and they’re in Oceania.

I don’t understand how Korea or theoretically, China, wouldn’t win each time based on number of fans outside said countries. The ABU festival was good cause it was just that, add competition and it’ll all be so messy.

  11. Yeah well, it’s the brand, but calling it Eurovision Asia still sounds and looks clunky. So currently, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal have signed up to compete, with “more to come.” I’m not the target audience, but I’d honestly be interested in tuning in to check out what’s cooking musically in places like Nepal, Vietnam, and Bangladesh.

I prefer if did not that happen. Let the Euros have their own thing, no need to insert ourselves there. It can only build up resentment.

The South Korean broadcaster is [checks notes] ENA? Can’t imagine how minuscule the viewing figures will be.
