      Keep in mind that Idaho is in the 9th circuit court of appeals, which includes all the blue states on the west coast.

      Even if they did manage to impose a life sentence it would immediately be appealed, and the higher courts aren’t packed with barbarian zealots.

      This atrocious law is mostly for public humiliation and throwing red meat to the voters.

LIFE IN PRISON for a non-violent crime of any kind is already insane, but a crime that effectively does not exist is enough to make this ridiculous in an ordinary place.       This is an effective ban on being out in society for trans people (including working and going to any public event.) Because whatever bathroom one uses will get them in trouble.
