Absolute classic in the genre of being too thick to remove the ChatGPT conversation at the end too.

  2. is there a regulator of written news media for this?? that is actually outrageous

  3. It’s not even necessarily that they use AI to correct grammar and improve readability

They just straight up got AI to do it and nobody reviewed it at all

If they aren’t added to the Sub list of untrustworthy sites they need to be

    Dry / witty
“The real mistake wasn’t using AI — it was forgetting to delete the ‘please rewrite this in a more engaging tone’ part.”

    Sarcastic
“Nothing says ‘trustworthy journalism’ like accidentally publishing the prompt.”

    Light humour
“Step 1: Ask AI to write the article.
Step 2: Forget to delete the instructions.
    Step 3: Become the story.”

    Sharp / critical
“Using AI as a tool is one thing. Publishing the prompt with the article is a whole new level of editorial oversight.”

    Short punchy reply
“Imagine getting scooped by your own prompt.”

If you want, I can also give you some more savage replies or ones that sound clever rather than snarky depending on the vibe you’re going for.

Something like that should sink the entire operation.

But of course it won’t. The best you’ll get is a „we strive to uphold the highest journalistic standards…“ tweet, and no more will be mentioned about it.

I worry more about how many new journalists are going to be an actual journalist, and not just get their degree and immediately resort to AI.

  6. Saw a journalist on Irish Times the other day apologizing about his AI usage, and the highlighted quote was

„A journalist regurgitating a machines opinion is akin to a doctor treating a patient by injecting him with a deadly virus“

So.. like vaccines? It’s hilarious in many levels

  7. Second hand thinking has become so common now, it’s depressing; but I’m not surprised a niche online rag might be using AI, ‚cos I doubt they have the shekels to pay people – and their very ideological position may close them off from hungry media writers looking for some work.

Yeah, shure look the Irish Times owns a lot of regional papers and clickbait outlets and unashamedly regurgitates absolute tripe from their ‚Breaking News‘ site, which itself uses stories and headline formats and content “suggested“ by a.i. which regenerates trash from google news aggregators anyway.

What’s probably worse than a.i. slop, is your local ‚County Live‘ website which garners all it’s articles from your local facebook community groups and pages. You can tell by the random bold print words in the articles.

    Todays news is actually yesterdays.

    So pathetic.

Fuck all integrity and this also presents more the argument of „Why would I keep paying you when I can just click a button?“

  10. I ensure I understand every line of code AI outputs to me, and I still feel bad. these guys can’t even bother to glance through an article to remove an ENTIRE PARAGRAPH of AI output before saying fuck it, post it

  11. Who the hell even reads it anymore, its been widely criticised for its low quality reporting (even more so now), failure to verify sources repeatedly, and having an obvious political bias and— oh I just answered my own question, didnt I?

To be fair, The Liberal usually doesn’t use any intelligence of any kind.
