Thailand’s Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, announced that the country has reached an agreement with Iran to allow Thai oil tankers to safely transit through the Strait of Hormuz, a rare concession that is expected to ease Thailand’s energy challenges. This puts Thailand alongside other countries, such as Bangladesh, China, and India, on Iran’s list of “friendly” nations. The move comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Iran exerting significant control over the Strait, a vital passage for global oil shipments. Iran has previously imposed blockades and threatened to target vessels linked to the US and Israel.

The agreement also follows a recent attack on a Thailand-flagged ship, the *Mayuree Naree*, off Iran’s Qeshm Island. Amid this crisis, Thailand has been taking steps to mitigate the impact of the oil shortage, including providing support to vulnerable groups and promoting alternative fuel sources. Additionally, Thailand has banned all oil exports, except to Cambodia and Laos. The country produces about 418,000 barrels of oil daily and holds 240 million barrels in crude reserves.

Iran is least to be trusted with their on and off. Look what happened to China recently. If anything, the world should be pushing for free trade

So Trump has lifted sanctions on Russia allowing them to take in record oil profits. Is allowing Iran to sell their oil taking in record profits. And has made Iran the gatekeeper of the Straight of Hormuz, giving Iran a huge economic and diplomatic boost up in the world.

Trump has won more for Iran than Iran ever has won for itself.

Who in Iran has the authority to negotiate? Can that person guarantee protection from rogue IRGC units in the straight?

China has the “goodwill” from Iran to use the straight as well. Yet you can see how many Chinese flags ships actually want to take the risk.

not sure how i should reconcile this with IRAN aim to keep the oil price up like they communicated. Am i interpreting this wrong by saying this would have a dampening effect on the price?

Somewhere in China, a strategist who made it their life’s work to destroy America’s military hegemony is screaming in frustration because the Americans managed to do it to themselves first.
