  1. Remember. Turn on lockdown mode when going to the United States.

Better yet. Just don’t go to America.

I’ll save you a click. Put your phone into lockdown mode before you arrive at the airport. It disables all biometrics so that you have to physically enter a password. They can’t legally force you to do that.

„This is not a paywall“ … Just hand over your email so we can sell it before you can see the entire article…

Not doing that, but I imagine it’s „don’t use biometric login (face/fingerprint), use pin or pattern login“ and maybe „expressly refuse to unlock the device“.

  4. America is in a crisis. Those who live outside the country can do very little to help them. But what you can do is spend as little money as you can in America, or on American goods and services.

The billionaires created this mess, don’t reward them.

pro-tip, if you have to follow a guide to avoid the gestapo when going to a country, don’t go to that country.

The spirit of posting this article is undermined by the collection of personal data at the host site.

  7. The article makes some good points but people need to know what can happen. If you tell them you don’t have a phone and they go look on the internet and find a bunch of social media, they’ll know you are not being honest. If you turn over a wiped or burner phone but you have a bunch of social media stuff, they’ll know you’re trying to trick them.

I’m not a fan of them but they’re not stupid and they have all kinds of tools and AI stuff that will out you if you call attention to yourself. Anything suspicious and if you are not American, you could be denied entry (which you don’t want on your record) and if you are American, you could be detained or worse.

  8. Set up an alternate email address with really nothing on it. Backup your phone. Nuke it. Sign in to secondary profile. If they ask, say your phone got stolen and you couldn’t remember your main password („I forgot“ is a valid legal defense). Once you’re clear, wipe phone again, login to main account, restore backup.

Bring a decoy phone. Doesn’t even need to have service. Get a cheapy Android or used iPhone, throw some stuff on it to get you through the flight, few games, some music, whatever.. stash the real phone in your luggage while in lockdown mode.

  10. Don’t visit America.⚠️ Don’t support this administration. It’s better for the environment too (unless you fly further away) . 🌲

  11. Probably the simplest option is at the end – delete apps that have content about you, particularly social media, and delete any stored photos that are political. You can lock down the phone but that risks having it confiscated.

Being a US citizen doesn’t exempt you from harassment from these, um, fine young men and women (I’m traveling soon).

Power it off. You can’t be forced to unlock with PIN code, but they can force with Face ID. I don’t know about fingerprint but I would guess it falls under the same as face.

Mail your phone to yourself and bring an old style keypad phone with your Sim

  14. It’s like nobody remembers the two documentaries Citizenfour and The Social Dilemma….

Absolutely mind blowing this is where were at now — to even feel a need to write and publish an article like this.

And yet still the rest of my family refuses to face the reality of their unwavering Trump and GOP voting hbaits.
