Not sure if I’m glad they’re finally realising that or annoyed it took them this long.

Can’t remotely rely on him in times of no crisis, far less when in an actual crisis.

It’s almost as if alliances go both ways. He can’t rely on our help, whether people disagree with his actions or Starmers flip flopping. So why should we expect better?

Not advocating for blindly following Trump, or any deranged foreign leader, but give and take without it being mutual is just exploitation.

They are finally catching up to reality its pretty clear Trump will throw us under the bus whenever it suits him. Its also becoming clear the US is going home, has little interest if any in NATO commitments and will use Trade as a big hammer to get its own way.

We will need to work with our European NATO partners to provide a security architecture for all of us and of course spend a great deal more on defence than we do at the moment.

The increase in defence spending will need to come from somewhere else so MP’s will have some hard choices to make in the coming months but its always a good first step to admit you have a problem and want to do something about it.

Guess it makes sense why we’re allowing Chinese super embassies, American is alienating itself as one of the last imperialist nations to disregard international law.

Think about it – right now we see America as the obvious ally, but why? Religious fuelled terrorism is bad when Iran does it, but when it’s done for the sake of baby Jesus that isn’t a red flag?

It’s a special relationship when the US wants it to be. We’re in an abusive relationship and Starmer is standing his ground without trying to get a backhander. Farage, Cameron and all of the Brexit voters have compounded the situation, so we’re now stuck in this semi-isolated position where we need both the EU and the US but both have distain and mock the UK.

The „Special Relationship“ is just a way of trying to force us into America’s demands at this point. The last time it felt remotely real was under Obama.

I’ll just be gritting my teeth until it’s over (two more years?)

  9. Cmon little bloodcot, free your shackles, you can do it! I have the drinks cabinet prepared ready for celebration!

You can pretty much guarantee that if a NATO country is attacked the USA would not honour the defence agreement out of spite at this point.

  11. Why is Starmer relying on him in the first place. Copy Canada and cut out all US goods.

Indeed. It even goes further than that. Trump and co are following that corporate Christo-fascst agenda. They’re well into Boiling The Frog territory. People don’t naturally become fascist. They have to be programmed and forced into it through harsh austerity, instability, social divisionism and subtle messaging and programming.

It’s quite simple on some level. Whoever can make you afraid of something can corrupt your mind and make you believe all kinds of things. When they can make you believe things, they have control of your mind. They can also get you to accept certain things that you wouldn’t normally accept. This is how people become radicalized.

The same US based entities would like the same process to take place in the UK. That’s why they’re throwing money into organizations and a certain UK political party which, if we give them political power, will start the same process. Can you guess which political party I’m referring to?

Who was the last US president that did seem to like the UK, and give preferential treatment? Biden seemed to dislike us being because of Ireland, Obama because of our colonial history. Maybe Clinton and Reagan? They only seem to tolerate us because we have various runways they can use.

It’s not just ‘unpredictability’. He’s a threat to the United Kingdom, particularly, The Crown. It wasn’t just happy coincidence when all that ‘additional’ content was released about Andrew. It was a ‘fk you’ to the Crown for telling Orange Spray-Paint Man to back the fk off Greenland.

Giving how americas basically switches sides  every 4 years, why would we commit to given the buffoon what he wants and then have to rebuild when a democrat wins the next election.

  16. Simply then we take over the US bases on UK soil. And it’s now a no fly zone for US. We are so soft

Handy to notice now, but given the gutting of our military, industrial base and outright failure to address our economic woes, I’m not sure what they expect to be done about it. Or is this the moment they push us back into the EU on a horrendous deal, still with no military backup and additional economic woes? Or, is it to align us with China, since that does seem to be Starmer’s preference?

So, which do you want to be a vassal of? Brussels and the insane bureaucracy that is intent on crippling everyone but Germany and France, or Beijing, which would love to destabilise the West and get access to London’s financial markets while stripping it all bare?

Now, before anyone jumps in, I am no fan of the US, never have been. They have been a fairweather ally at best, and the „special relationship“ has always been closer to an abusive one than anything else. I am glad we are starting to tell them to piss off, but it is clearly being done without considering the UK.

  18. 100% he would use it to twist our arm and try to take advantage of us in a moment where we required assistance from an ally

  19. Après avoir jeter sans ménagement les européens avec le brexit. Vous êtes vraiment sûr de ne pas vouloir revenir en europe ?

  20. Revolutionary-Key533 on

There is no relationship „special“ or otherwise. We just „rub along“ although at the moment it’s more a case of „enduring“ each other with the unreliable clown in charge at the White House.

  21. There’s not a single day that goes by where im not in disbelief that this pedo, rapist fraudster holds the highest level of power in the world….. it also blows my mind that his MAGA followers are only pissed off with him now that fuel prices have started to go up!

There’s a demented old man in the whitehouse and there doesnt seem like there’s anything that they can do to remove him, fucking scary shit if you ask me.
