That may just be the weakest thing I have ever seen that Putin has done.

When have you ever seen a dictator ask for anything like this?

If hes really down to asking for money to continue a war he started then he really isn’t long for his position.

That seems like a breaking moment wasn’t the unspoken deal leave the oligarchs money and don’t punish to many of them at once?

That might be the weakest thing Putin has ever done, in my opinion.

„Comrades, we need more money. Give me back all the money I gave you. Next week you mobilize to Ukraine.“

There’s asking and then there’s „asking“. Putin is probably paying very close attention to who donates and who doesn’t, and the ones that don’t support his war will likely find their assets seized or find themselves falling out a window in the near future.

He is actually bothering to ask? What happened to just taking the money after imprisoning or killing them?

“Ask” is doing some heavy lifting here. Either they do what he wants or off to prison or a balcony. Or both.

Their „donations“ would just go straight into his pockets though, not into any defense budget

„Asks“ is very much a load bearing term in this context.  I’m sure he’s „asking“ in the same way he’s „offering“ a view out of a high window.

You know with them not having modern internet anymore, maybe they should go old school and have a telethon to raise money for their army.

We’re about to see some falls from windows by these oligarchs. They either pay up or pay up. Putin got no time no more. He’s desperate.

Putin’s war machine is getting a massive infusion of cash from high petroleum prices.
