      Carney knows that in all likelyhood, trumps impact on Canadian trade with the US is limited to the 3-6 years that his influence persists as a boogeyman in Republican politics.

      In the meantime, he can build new relationships that will persist far longer. Smart decision

      I read this article twice and I’m not quite sure what the author is trying to say. Just add it to the many columns being written about Canada-US trade. Let’s save everyone time.

      The US is no longer a reliable trading partner, even after Trump is gone but they will remain a necessary and important trading partner. So, Canada needs to rapidly (rapidly = at least a decade) diversify its trade. However, the US will always be our major trading partner because of geography and economic integration. So, we have to play nice with the US.
