I actually did that. First place I rented was with my brother and a mate. What good times we had in that house, sigh.

Ray Cooke is full of his own importance. He has a terrible attitude towards people struggling with housing

„Tired of being poor? Just don’t be poor.“

Reminds me of the time that my mam (at the time, broken from the loss of my brother) started associating with a woman who was all about angels. She couldn’t work out how she was so wealthy despite not really working and the response was always „you just need to ask the angels for abundance“. Turns out that person’s son, also away with these angels, was robbing a poor lady of hundreds of thousands of euro to keep all their lifestyles afloat.

Inter generational wealth just your parents leave the house to their favourite kid and not you

If you marry your sister you can buy a house with a sibling without looking like a weirdo to your neighbours

People like this are always saying the stupidest stuff on the radio, too.

Dislike his company because they keep putting house share rooms up on Daft in the „To Rent“ section instead of the „To Share“ listed as studio or one bed apartments, when you’re sharing with four or more other people. Evil little yellow logo is annoying to see.

Takes note, never use „Ray Cooke Auctioneers“… What an entitled cnut

  10. Ray Crooke, as he’s most notably referred to as a mouldy sausage roll, as I’ve seen mentioned in the comments, is a vulture. His crew of young, inexperienced agents carry out tactics that wouldn’t be allowed anywhere else.

Couple of things, he isn’t wrong in what he is saying. Secondly, look at the original post, the mechanic is stating he can’t afford a house in “his area”, what’s wrong with moving to a more affordable area then ? It’s called a property ladder for a reason, this seems to be lost a little these days. Buy cheaper in a less desirable area, sell for profit a little down the line and get where you want to get to !!!

Otherwise….be creative, buy with friends, seems like a great idea !!

The guys agency literally posted a burnt out house in finglas and described it as a „great opportunity“ it was around €270,000 which is the most galling part. He’s a tone deaf moron.

    > Varaker

That’s a new spelling. Must be at least a dozen variations by now.

He’s completely contradicting himself here too, he said people can buy a house on their own, but when someone showed that’s not realistic, he changed it to buying with someone else 🤦 and people act like he speaks truth

  15. You can be mad at it but it is an effective strategy. I know some indian lads that have done it. 3 brothers, pooled together bought a house so they weren’t paying rent but a mortgage instead, battered the mortgage down, then bought another house and going for the third now.

It’s also the reason why a two income household is pretty much mandatory these days.

Requires trust and comfort with your family/friends though.

Varadkar says if you don’t like all the  immigration , you can work 6 days a week if you want.    Martin laughing with Trump last year about the housing crisis. Shouldn’t even be a politician class or a career politician. Can’t run anything if you don’t have experience in those areas that need to be governed.  Being a good politician  isn’t hereditary, stop the nepotism, pls.

  17. We applied for an apartment with this crowd.. stated that we had cats. Got the apartment, sent deposit over, they sent lease back. Lease stated no pets. I queried it, and they said ‘hide them if the building manager comes’… Genuinely imagine a letting agent saying that to you. Notwithstanding that any neighbour could report us for having cats in the building and we would be evicted. Cowboys.

In the words of another elitist cunt:

„It has always been the case that a person needs to raise a deposit to buy a house. People do it in many different ways. Sometimes people go abroad for a period and earn money. Others get money from their parents. Lots of us did. Others get money through other loans. Sometimes people stay at home for a period and raise a deposit in that way.“

The wealthy in Ireland are completely detached from reality.

  19. Ray Cooke doing interviews talking down about people not being able to get mortgages whilst wearing a Rolex, what do we expect.

That lad is such a grifter, constantly posting “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” bullshit when’s he’s flogging burned out gaffs for a quarter mill

  21. Jesus_Phish on

This lad has started popping up on my Instagram and I’m convinced it’s rage bait. The other day it was „well you can’t buy a house because you studied the wrong thing in college instead of going into a trade“

  22. SoloWingPixy88 on

Stop responding or paying attention to this guy. 100% this guy will make a presidential or TD bid.

  23. markymark71190 on

Buying with either a friend of siblings is a ticking time bomb. It’s very likely someone will have a partner at some point and want to move in with them. After that it’s essentially a forced sell of the property at some point
