    A jury found Meta Platforms and Google-owned YouTube liable in a first-of-its-kind lawsuit that seeks to hold major platforms responsible for harm to young users. The verdict came after more than 40 hours of deliberations following a trial that included testimony from the plaintiff, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram chief Adam Mosseri.

    The plaintiff, a 20-year-old woman identified in court papers as K.G.M. and called Kaley at trial, said she began using YouTube at age 6 and Instagram at age 9 and was on social media “all day long” as a child. Her lawyers argued the platforms’ design features hooked young users and worsened her mental health, and they needed to show the companies’ negligence was a “substantial factor” in causing her harm.

    Social Media I know it has positives but for the most part seems to have ruined a lot of people’s lives.

    People should definitely watch the Social Dilemma. A good watch and shows you what these social media companies design their applications for.
