When the IEA chief says we are already in for the largest oil shock in history, and there’s no end in sight, I would say so.

This guy is doing a better job of spreading pro-Iran propaganda and fear mongering than Iran itself lol. Going by what he says alone, you’d never guess that the Iranain government massacred 30k protestors in January.

    But Trump said they won.
The US meannwhile (maybe I missed something):

    – Assassinated moderate Ali Khamenei and replaced him with a hardliner.
    – Killed moderate Ali Larijani by destroying an entire city block, resulting in his death, the death of his son, and numerous civilians, he was also replaced by an extreme hardliner.
    – Spent billions in just a few days while falsely claiming to the US public that there were no funds for healthcare.
    – Betrayed Gulf states by refusing to assist or defend them.
    – Undermined South Korea by seizing their defense systems, leaving them defenseless.
    – Harmed EU and Asian allies by initiating an illegal war, causing oil and gas prices to skyrocket, and criticizing them for not wanting to join the conflict.
    – Committed war crimes.
    – Bombed school full of children (double-tap).
    – Urged Ukraine to surrender parts of their territory to Russia.
    – Lifted sanctions on Russian and Iranian oil, two countries with whom they are engaged in conflict.
    – Blockaded and starved Cuba.
    – Requested $200 billion to fund wars, prioritizing attacking other countries and committing war crimes over helping their own people.

He’s already proven Spain is perfectly fine with normalizing relations with terrorists. I’d like to see a poll conducted for the Spanish population on two subjects: 1. Thoughts on their right to protest/ murdering thousands in the streets. 2. Is funding terrorist activities across the region and inciting violence permitted? Diplomacy has been given a chance for decades and the IRGC just keep building more missiles to terrorize. They also don’t let the nuclear agencies in for random inspections, and boasted about highly enriched uranium which goes against all of the treaties. GTFO with these headlines

I mean this is obvious. Iran is a much larger country than Iraq and its terrain is extremely jagged/rugged whereas Iraq is quite flat. We don’t have armed resistance like we did in Northern Iraq with Barzani’s Kurdistan Party and the Dawa Party to help us topple Saddam’s Regime. In Iran, there is nothing like that to fill over the power vacuum to prevent the country from dissolving into Libya on steroids.

    > This time, it’s an absurd and illegal war.

So… what’s the difference? At least Saddam didn’t have any nuclear research facilities hidden away under mountains.

    > A cruel one that sets us back from achieving our economic, social and environmental goals.

Sounds like he’s just mad his economy is as vulnerable to high oil / gas prices. He should put more solar panels and wind turbines to reduce his reliance on fossil fuels if he thinks it’s a solution.

    > Last week, his government approved a sweeping package worth €5 billion to cushion the economic impact of the war, including reductions in fuel taxes.

Yeah obviously if he subsidizes fossil fuels instead of investing on clean energy it’s going to cost him a lot of money and set back its environmental goals, but that’s his problem. There are alternatives to fossil fuels, it could be the 10th oil crisis and despite the catastrophic damages these shocks do to economies, despite the climate emergency, these governments still want to solve the problem by giving more money to fossil fuel companies in times of crisis and even beyond.

They have only themselves to blame. Geopolitical independence goes hand in hand with energy and military independence. Otherwise you just talk a lot without much power.

Europe should stop setting its goals in a fantasy world and stop being so dependent on others. Wars will continue to happen, oil shocks will continue to happen, there are ways to reduce the vulnerability to them.

It is not an illegal war. That is the absurdity of the situation, that you can have elected officials rule this illegal.

Hey fellow OIF vets how are we feeling about this

Seems like potentially „far worse“ is a no brainer

  9. We can all see that it’s getting worse… this is the worst economic crisis we’ve had, even without mentioning COVID.
