I think the teaser confirms once again that AKMU was always AKMU and the best thing YG did was not to interfere with their music and image.

On another note (and apologises for hijacking the post), with their departure, YG seems to only have three active groups and a couple of soloists: BLACKPINK, who are steadily decreasing group activities and the effort they put into them, Treasure, who have a loyal fanbase but never hit it big, and Babymonster, who is working hard on hitting it big, as well as some Winner and SK soloists. I guess Bigbang still collaborates with them in some capacity. Rumour has it that the Black Label is also trying to become fully independent. This is rather sad for those who remember what a powerhouse YG was in the 2000s-2010s.

  2. MY GOATTTTS 😭😭😭😭 so hyped for their new album omg “AKMU: The Past Year” made me tear up ㅠㅠㅠ

Adding on to what people have been saying here, I’m so so so so so happy they’ve left YG. I know that the company supported their creative ventures well throughout their run, but even without YHS being a criminal, I was honestly getting sick of the company stans filling their comment sections with unrelated nonsense (e.g., “Suhyun’s the best vocalist in YG now that Lee Hi’s left,” “Blackpink Jisoo brought me here!!”, etc). Now the only people who keep up with them will be the people who actually appreciate their artistry for what it is.

  3. Looking forward to seeing what kind of music and concept we’ll get! Maybe something to do with spring…

Do you remember their debut date on April 7, 2014? They choose exactly the same day for the comeback post-YG. It feels like starting a new journey with the same sincerity as the debut.
