Not just businesses but also for employees and many people that had events planned in the area. It is a hot topic in Korea right now. So many people got married in the area and couldn’t access the venue. Huge waste of tax payers money for a one-hour event. Even HYBE told the people whose weddings were impacted that they wouldn’t get any compensation. They planned their weddings a year in advance and this popped up. Guests had to walk from the subway station because the streets were closed off. You get the gist. It’s blowing up all over Korea.

Yeah this whole thing is such clown show energy. Imagine planning your wedding a year out and then finding out some idol’s event matters more than, like, dozens of actual people’s lives that day. The fact that HYBE and the city are both like “lol no compensation” is wild, it’s not like this was some unavoidable natural disaster.

I feel sorry about anyone affected to their plan/business or anything. At the same time, I’m a bit worried about some people’s blame target to police to control them too strict. I hope them understand that police might very irritable due to crowd crush in Itaewon.

  4. I feel bad for newlyweds who booked their venues in advance near the area and no guests came to their wedding.

What I found interesting was that apparently [Myeong-dong really didn’t see many customers](https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/business/companies/20260322/bts-comeback-sets-tills-ringing-across-retail-industry):

    >Restaurant and shop owners in the tourist hotspot of Myeong-dong, some 20 minutes on foot away from Gwanghwamun Square, showed mixed responses to the highly anticipated K-pop event, as the massive crowd appeared to have diverted other visitors away, resulting in lower sales than usual Saturdays.

I don’t understand why it couldn’t have been at a stadium like previous free concerts by other artists. It would’ve been controlled, with security etc.

The planning behind this was shortsighted. Add to that the trauma Koreans have with the Itaewon disaster, and that it was going to be live on Netflix…
