Die Polizei von Toronto wird mehr Beamte in taktischer Ausrüstung an Gotteshäusern und Touristenzentren einsetzen

Toronto residents will soon see more police officers in tactical gear with patrol rifles and other long guns around places of worship, tourist hubs and community centres.

On Tuesday, the Toronto Police Service (TPS) announced the launch of “Task Force Guardian,” which it said was aimed at deterring potential acts of violence.

“We know that visible police presence matters when it comes to deterring violence and reassuring our communities,” TPS Chief Myron Demkiw said at a news conference, where he announced the task force as well as his service’s standalone counterterrorism security unit.

“If you see these officers, whether it’s around places of worship or tourist hubs, it does not mean there is an imminent threat. What it means is we are strategically positioning resources to protect our communities and to be able to respond quickly, if necessary.”

Citing the shootings at Toronto synagogues and the U.S. consulate downtown, as well as the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the chief said Toronto needs to have proper resources to respond to incidents.

“I want to be clear today that this announcement is not about any particular threat, but the growing volume and complexity of threats related to terrorism, extremism and hate-motivated incidents,” Demkiw said.

Given the rising threats globally from the fuckery in the middle east I dont disagree with this. We have a large population of immigrants from the region on all sides of the spectrum.

Who would have foreseen importing the world’s problems would eventually cost us so much in the form of now needed expanding police budgets.

I remember the days where we didn’t have any of this new talk of Islamophobia no talk genital mutilation , honour killings, nothing ….people lived their lives. Normally…. sure Canada had its own problems… we were geographically isolated from this shit and here we are…. now this is where we are now. all the secretarial, bullshit violence, gang, ism scams. We were such a nice country.

When radicals were burning cstholic churches during covide the governemnt closed their eyes.
But a synagogue gets a rock thrown at it and suddenly the entire power of Canada gets moved to protect them.

Good. Take it one step further. Shut down these insufferable racist pro-Hamas protests entirely.

It’s unfortunate at the need for this, but at the same time I feel like maybe they should have less lethal deterrent options? Tear gas and tasers exist for a reason. Guns have higher risk of property damage and civilian casualties.

Needless problem of our own making.
