    Also ottoman population displayed here isn’t just the part of the ottomans on the map but also includes the ME north africa etc

    Its crazy to see france is more populated whole ottoman empire and russia while today just turkey alone has more population than france and russia doubles france

    Czechia had 4,5 mil. Much bigger share of Europe’s population than today.

    Many people may be surprised to see France’s population. But in fact, France was the demographic superpower of Europe for much of post-Roman history. Throughout the Middle Ages, France contained about 25% of Europe’s entire population. So in relative terms, their 1789 population was actually quite small
