    1. Now several countries rank much higher because Global Data Lab updated their education indicators, which I think were projections from a long time ago. This change in scores is better seen in Scandinavia, South America and Oceania.

      Slow down there, Argentina. Some stats are not tallied at the subnational level (like life expectancy) giving Argentina’s poor northern provinces cover from the more developed central areas. This map would give the impression Argentina has a higher HDI than Chile, and that is not the case (Chile’s life expectancy is 4-5yrs higher).

    3. Is there any more information about the data? I’m curious what in particular makes some of these areas ranked higher. Minnesota is sort of surprising to me.
