They realized they made a mistake showing the world their ability to potentially strike targets in Europe and are trying to walk it back.
US state department is likely taking full advantage of this revelation in communications with European NATO allies, in hopes of drawing them into active participation for security reasons.
Oh yeah false flag, we totally believe you
iran: it was us
omg guys they take credit for everything, dont believe anything from irgc
iran: it wasnt us
omg guys theyre obviously trying to pin a false flag attack on us to make us look bad
This will be very hard to prove for either side
Fog of war. Any statements either side makes at this point are debateable.
Believing Iran or the guy that said the Iranians bombed themselves with a Tomahawk, I’m not sure which one to pick.
Iran’s propaganda game is super strong. Like Russia, they are masters of confusion and gaslighting. They already have a bunch of people here siding with them. Don’t be an easy mark.
> which could change the calculus of the war for US allies.
(1) did people really think Iran wouldn’t be able to reach that far?
(2) do people only care when they’re at risk of receiving missiles?
The Strait of Hormuz and gulf countries are much closer to Iran and the current situation shows that missiles don’t need to reach you – wherever you are – to cause catastrophic damage to your economy.
> Abbas Araghchi said, „We intentionally limited ourselves to below 2,000km [1,242 miles] of range because we don’t want to be felt as a threat by anybody else in the world.“
Many countries in the world have missiles and aren’t perceived as threats thanks to their political stance. It’s less about what a country is capable of technically than what it could do politically.
The scent of bullshit permeates this entire excursion.
in a game of spot the liar between the Trump regime, Israel and Iran I think asking a magic 8 ball for the truth might be more reliable.
Iran has devolved into small pockets of IRGC local commanders that are calling the shots. It’s pretty clear the Iranian government as a whole is no longer in control of what missiles go where.
Everything is a „Deepfake“ ….
Isn’t that the guy that Trump keeps trying to deport?
How is it a false flag attack when they completely missed?
I don’t trust the Iranian government nor Al Jazeera
I think what’s most likely happening is the full ramifications of Mosaic defense played out on a broad scale.
Yes, by dividing your operational efficacy amongst tens of separate departments and cells with succession transfer embedded, you create a solid system that resists decapitation strikes. However, the more groups act with full operational autonomy, the higher chance of individuals choosing risky and unsafe plans that put all the other groups at risk
Since the attacks failed, it is in Iran’s interest to deny. They would have undoubtely taken credit had it succeeded.
There are even reports elements of the IRGC are acting independently. So it may even be true from a certain point of view.
It’s easy to jump on the orange clown and believe everything the other side is saying but it doesn’t lead to being well informed. I suspect we won’t know the facts until much later.
During normal times, I would assume Iran was lying. But at this moment the safest bet, by far, is that the US is lying and tried some bullshit.
The base. Not the person. I know that now.
When you can trust no one at their word anymore… (But could you ever, really?)
I have absolutely zero trust in either party to tell the truth
I just assumed this when it very first came out.
We’re in a crazy time when the Iranians have the upper hand in who people choose to believe when 2 versions of an incident related to this war are released.
This right here is the problem when you lie all the time, and everybody knows you lie all the time; your rivals/ adversaries can just say you’re lying and everyone has to stop and think “well they do lie ALL THE TIME so maybe it’s the same now”.
Trump to Europe – help me!
Europe to Trump – no.
Europe mostly safe from known long-range Iranian missiles.
Suddenly ‘Iran’ launches a missile to somewhere that is a similar distance – or further – than Europe.
Trump – look they CAN hit you! Help me now!
🤨
There is this dark humor here. Normally Iran/Russia’s playbook is too just lie and lie and lie.
And suddenly, their playbook is met with an even bigger liar. Like it breaks all their rules about how the Western leaders should behave.
Now they are faced with an even crazier person, with a much bigger army, who will on a whim assassinate enemy state leaders.
And they are scrambling.
The US and Israel have desperately been trying to pull the greater world into this conflict so they want us to believe the world at large is under threat. So missiles that have far more range than proven is the first false flag, unfortunately this may be followed-up with false flag terrorist acts. I don’t think anyone is ready to jump into bed with them after watching them completely shit it for no reason and then ask for help, so here we are.
Even then: it’s a military base.
Iran is at war with the US.
Therefor attacking it is 100% a militarily legitimate move.
The only tricky part here is that it is a jointly used military base, but at the same time it being used by a faction they are not at war with shouldn’t be used as an excuse or shield to hide behind for the faction they ARE at war with.
We live in a world of lies and deception. Until people wake up this is how it ends.
It’s a sad timeline that we can’t trust the statements made from Israel, The US, or Iran.
So many posters in the comment section with hidden profiles, urging European involvement.
Release the satellite tracking image showing the departure of the missles from Iran until the splash down near Diego Garcia.
Why would anyone false flag an attack on Diego Garcia? It’s a legitimate military target.
At this point, both sides will just claim false flag attacks until there’s nothing left standing.
Iran has successfully put satellites in space using their own rockets, this basically proves their ICBM capabilities indirectly. Iran has always faced a threat of a Nato invasion, and in that scenario getting hits on European bases would be very important for them.
Since I’m seeing some claims here that this was an Israeli false flag attack:
1) Ballistic missiles have a fairly predictable trajectory. You can identify at least the general location from which they were launched
2) Israel is over 2000 kilomaters away from Iran.
If these missiles came from Israel that would be glaringly visible.
These also aren’t the sort of weapons you can clandestinely move to another country’s territory.
Iran would be stupid to attack the Uk, at the moment we are staying out of the war.
if they attack us it will trigger Article 5 ,NATO gets involved.
I said this from the beginning. The US and Israel said this in hopes it would get EU to help them out.
