Imagine the Vatican participating and sending a church choir.

The base issue is, that Eurovision got more and more political. If they exclude Russia, now they will have to justify not excluding other nations for a long time. And Israel and Russia won’t be the only nations that are doing questionable things.

Also, them clearly representing a political spectrum that 80% of Europeans do not vote for, doesn’t help.

I don’t see a future for the contest in it’s current form.
