It’s hard to plan an uprising when you’re afraid of being hanged everyday

In a way, the war might have temporarily strengthened the regime’s popularity for fighting back against foreign attacks.

The reality is more nuanced on that. This comes off as attempts to shift blame to the Mossad chief David Barnea, when it appears Netanyahu was the one being overly optimistic.

„The [Channel 12] report stressed that the Mossad chief provided disclaimers and qualifications, and noted both that the situation was developing and that achieving the desired ends could take a long time.“

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/mossad-chief-told-pm-before-war-that-he-thought-irans-regime-could-be-toppled-report/

„The Post understands that anyone familiar with Barnea and his major calls during the last few years of war would know that he consistently presents predictions with many qualifications and almost never talks about massive change being inevitable.“

„When Uvda reported that, on the eve of war, Barnea presented before Netanyahu his prediction that toppling the Iranian regime was possible, it was only later in the article that some of the conditions that Barnea would have placed upon his prediction were detailed.

The report vaguely noted that the Mossad chief ‚had reservations regarding a developing real-time situation and regarding the amount of time that it was likely to take.'“

„The report then blames Netanyahu and Trump for being overly optimistic about the Iran war leading to regime change, which is against predictions by US officials ‚and some other officials in other Israeli intelligence agencies.‘

Next, the report goes on to portray Netanyahu as being impatient with the Mossad’s failure to bring about regime change during the early days of the war, which risks losing support from Trump.

    ‚No evidence of differing opinion‘

Once again, there is no evidence that the Mossad expressed an opinion different from what the IDF has said publicly: that military force can, at most, create the conditions for the process of a post-war regime change.“

„In light of recent reports of Netanyahu’s frustration that protests in Iran have not resumed in recent weeks, it appears that even on the eve of the war, the political echelon was presented with a relatively cautious assessment of the regime’s collapse scenario. Mossad chief David Barnea estimated in the cabinet that the overthrow of the Iranian regime, if it occurs, is only expected at a late stage of the campaign. ‚The process of overthrowing the regime could last many months, even a year,‘ he estimated before the war“ – Hebrew quote from a Channel 12 article translated through my phone.

Promise? That’s something like Hegseth or Miller might do to Trump, where probabilities and risks aren’t a thing.

The messed up part is that be starting this war now they may have destroyed any chance at social upheaval in Iran for all of our lifetimes.

They could have supported local popular uprising, but no the needed to start a war.

  6. Repulsive_Layer1597 on

I thought they killed 30,000 protesters. Netanyahu was hoping for more than that?

Ukraine demonstrated what gasoline, senior citizens with nothing to lose could do. Everyone has a plan to subjugate the public until they are on fire. Deisel, sterno and a sock folks.

Never underestimate power of religion. Iran turned this In to religious war and it did not help matters by taking out their leader cum cleric in first day.

Really testing the loyalty of his fans on this one. Hard to believe even hardcore Bibiphiles would side with him over the motherfucking Mossad.

If only he said this right before the election.

  10. Wait an organization whose very motto is to the effect of „with deception you shall wage war“ deceived someone about war?!

  11. imagine being frustrated that your intelligence agency couldnt just overthrow a government on command. like its a dinner reservation that fell through

What is this nonsense. Iranian ppl are literally told not to go out and to wait until the time is right. Who says that they should’ve done this yet? They’re waiting until irgc is weakened further and air strikes mostly stop.

lol Trump must be furious with Bibi so Bibi is looking for a scapegoat. The supposed regime change was definitely expected to be on Israel, and I guarantee that Trump either fired or ignored people who told him about the most likely outcomes of this affair.

  14. Watching these chickenhawks fail at playing war is the only bright spot in an otherwise very grim situation. I feel for all the soldiers on both sides having to sacrifice for these clearly inept morons.

  15. its hard to plan an uprising when the person you plan with is known to be unreliable.

Why do countries, time and again, always expect to be greeted as liberators?

It is not as common as these bloated assholes think.

  17. I’m waiting for the day of Israeli elections and for the good of all for this baboon to be thrown out of power.

I hate the idea of Iran being governed by religious fanatics but the fact that Netanyahu and Trump seem to make those bastards seem saner and that makes me even more angry.

Fell short? What did you think? You’ll bomb schools and Iranians will say let’s overthrow our regime? What kind of idiotic strategy is that?

  18. dumbnaturedude on

These things take time…. Can’t expect a politician to understand that.

  19. BShep_OLDBSN on

Who could have imagined that bombing children’s schools and hospitals would unite iranian people against the invaders? s/

  20. chumbubbles on

Maybe that’s because they sat back and watched while protesters got mowed down and then were like “hey do you want some help?” After the fact

  21. Well Iran killed like 20k+ protesters not too long ago that would have probably been instrumental in an uprising.

  22. Oh if only there was a certain ethnic group in Western Iran that’s never had a country of its own yet has consistently fought wars of independence and amassed a large pool of expert guerrilla fighters.

  23. Hard to physically overthrow your government when your “support” is bombing you and your fellow citizens constantly now isn’t it?

  24. SalaryDull5301 on

Yeah they killed like 30k protesters a month ago man. There is nobody to rise up left
