Finally!! I’m sick of cats getting a pass from being invasive species because they’re cute…

So just let them starve, and their numbers will disappear? These animals are not pigeons. How about stiffly raising the punishment of people who abandon them, restricting the pet shops that breed and sell animals for profit, and encouraging adoption of abandoned animals from care facilities?

One of the things I love about my university is that the students have set up little cat houses and feeding stations around campus whenever they find a colony of cats. They maintain the food and clean water during the vacations. We have the city bus system’s driver’s rest area building on campus, and the bus drivers have taken to helping the students keep the cats fed, and you’ll often see 50 year olds behind the building playing with the cats. i’d never expect some grumpy bus driver to get off the bus and go play with kittens, but every time I walk past there it seems a different guy is there helping them.

  4. I just had a look at the new document and don’t think the article title is accurate, it’s just a guidebook full of

Good guide though full of cute pictures and advice on how to feed cats in the right way. It’s called the 길고양이 돌봄 가이드라인 and easiest to find via Naver.

Related: we got five cats in our neighbourhood neutered/spayed last week and a sixth was adopted! Two of the males are suddenly not interested in fighting each other anymore, lol

Cats are a serious problem, and honestly something needs to be done about them. They are apex predators that roams the korean ecosystem freely without much constraint, and are hunting down native species like birds, amphibians, etc. Not feeding them so that they would naturally decrease in number is the first thing we could do.

I can tell you my apartment used to have a lot of fighting and screaming stray/ferral cats. My mother in law is a „Cat Mom“ she T&Rs all the cats and feeds them regularly. The cats cant have any new kittens and the population stablized after 2 years. She does this for all the surrounding apartments too.

Because of her, over 100 cats were spade and neutured and inoculated from diseases, mostly out of her own money too, and they are strong enough to keep other new strays from coming into the area. Now the whole neighboorhood is quiet and sustainable and no one hears yelping cats at night anymore.

I cant tell you how many times people have threatened her with physical violence just from feeding them. They curse at her, wreck cat houses and kicked over feeding areas without trying to understand.

She did such good work in her free time the city animal control department recognized her efforts and is helping subsidize her work now. People need to be educated on how to handle strays because half are cats people abandoned outside. On top of that some cat moms are a bit zealous too and need to be educated as well how to properly handle strays by way of T and R.

I had a fight with a „cat mom“ in my neighborhood. The more you feed the cats, the more there are that are just left to starve. If you want to raise a cat, raise it at home. Plenty of people in my area have allergies. Forcing a colony of cats on a neighborhood leads to more trash being opened and more wildlife being dead.

Please take care and raise the pets you have at home. Also, feeding strays leads to more strays which leads to more suffering. Please be kind and dont encourage their population expansion.
