Russia needs cheap weapons to destabilise. Having gotten the Iranian technology at cheap level, combined with vast resources of raw materials, it works by wrecking havoc. And of course, with Trump’s blessings.
That said, the Russian economy is too small and cannot sustain without trading with the Chinese, while the Russian military has shown progress backward.
It’s an admission from muscovy that they’re unable to win this war. They think that by turning full genocidal mode on Ukraine, they’ll be able to shatter their will to fight by destroying everything.
Except Muscovy forgot that Ukraine has lived under similar conditions as the Russians during the Soviet Union where economic, social, political times were constantly hard, so they too, know how to endure difficult times.
Ukraine has been able to develop military tech and innovate quickly, and they can now almost respond symmetrically. I hope that by the end of this year, the long range ballistics and cruise missiles will begin hitting Moscow regularly and destroying important military factories (like what we saw in the Bryansk electronics complex last week with the storm shadows).
Russia’s collapse is inevitable, it’s just a matter of when it’s going to happen. It could be in 12-24 months or perhaps a decade, but I am convinced that the Rubicon has already been crossed by the regime. Ukrainian kinetic sanctions will make sure to expedite this process.
What russians achieved with those attacks 1) more motivation to join Ukrainian army than what any Ukrainian recruiter can provide 2) more motivation for other countries to stop kremlins activities and reduce influence of shills that bullshit about russians being well meaning decent and fair people 3) destroyed lots of soviet era infrastructure and homes that are getting replaced by newer nonsoviet variations
Testing data for Iran and China in exchange for attacks on Ukraine that reduce the productivity of its people.
Self demilitarization and a futile race with Ukraine to see if Russia can rebuild refineries faster than Ukraine can build flamingos, whose outcome will determine if Russia keeps the half of its state revenue coming from being an energy exporter. Or not.
Terrorism from a terrorist State.
By collapsing the power grid in Ukraine, Russia was aiming to cripple Ukraine’s ability to produce and manufacture weapons. (Factories need power to run)
More than they did with their tanks and Cold War storage.
Less than they need to convince anyone they’re a military superpower.
Nothing.
But the idea, that also didn’t work when the nazies tried it with the brits, is that they hope to weaken the support for the war in the ukranian population, by making life as difficult for the average ukrainian as they can.
But just like with the brits during ww2, it seems to have mostly strengthened their resolve.
Future payments for rebuilding and generations more Russians lost to the inevitable fate their countrymen and leaders always seem to aim towards?
It was just to cause some pain and for propaganda effects. Or maybe they don’t know history, because such attacks rarely work out in terms of demoralization. Quite the opposite.
It’s funny that trump decided to repeat the same strategy Iin Iran. With similar bad results.
