      So everyone (regular people like us) is acting surprised that they can precisely attack upto 4000km but surely the official people in the govt. who are involved in this kinda stuff must have known and definitely the US or Israel were aware about that, here in India one army major who retired long ago and regularly appears on news channels for debates and ragebaiting (everyone has those as ‚war analysts‘ I suppose) said we were saying Iran can target upto 4k km but they were still underestimating them

      The Diego García label makes it sem like there’s one poor fucker named Diego who has a target on its head and it’s just in range of Iranian missiles.

      As much as I love Mercator, it is really unsuitable for this kind of data – note that the software had to space out the contours MORE in the north than in the south to account for latitudinal stretching.

      The scale bar is a lie. It increases by 1/cosine θ where θ is latitude

      Could have picked azimuthal equidistant centered on Iran, or orthographic showing the earth like a globe from a specific vantage point. Even a pseudocylindrical compromise projection would have looked better than this.

      Sounds like they are corrupt bastards but not crazy and suicidal. Sounds like they are a standard issue despotic government, not an existential inevitable threat that we must destroy right now.

      drag more countries into the war that already refused to participate because of trump’s genious foreign policy?

      Very interesting. I like the demonstration about the range of their missiles. Question, though, I don’t see California on this map, but I have it on extremely good authority that Iran was ready to launch an attack there…let me check the figures really quickly…it’s only 7700 miles away, or 12000 km. I don’t see that range specified on this chart. I wonder if I’ve been lied to? But no, your chart must be wrong

      I feel like I’m missing something here but where did there Diego Garcia bound missiles reach before the were engaged/failed? Were these just shot in that direction and got less than halfway there or did they rock up in the Diego Garcia night sky?

      Are we certain it was actually Iran and not an Iranian missle shot from a US or Israeli ship? Wouldn’t be the first time they false flagged.

      Also, the western occupation of that atoll and what they did to the natives is beak colonialism
