  1. They were going from one city in Texas to another city in Texas. A 118km drive. Why is there a mandatory border checkpoint within the state, and not at an actual border?

Nothing makes the United States of America safer like holding a mother with a legal status in the United States married to an American and her autistic daughter in custody after coming home from a babyshower. Mission Accomplished!

You have to sift through a lot of tripe about baby showers to find the part where they fraudulently entered the US on visitors visas to go and live with her boyfriend. It says she recently got a “work permit”, sounds like her daughter is still there illegally, and in light of all that, I wouldn’t assume she was totally honest in obtaining her “work permit” either.

What I don’t understand is why they are being held instead of immediately returning to Canada voluntarily. My guess is, the US wants to fully investigate to determine if she should be permanently barred from entry and there’s a backlog right now.

As a legal resident that lives in Texas, but originally from the Okanagan valley, this makes me incredibly uncomfortable.
It just shows that legal status doesn’t matter to these shitasses
