      Trump ​told reporters on Thursday that he ​was not putting troops „anywhere,“ but that if was ‌going ⁠to, he would not tell journalists.
      The sources, who were speaking on the condition of anonymity, did not say ​what the ​role ⁠of the additional troops would be.
      But one of the officials said ​the troops were departing the West Coast ​of ⁠the United States about 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
      The White House and ⁠Pentagon ​did not immediately respond ​to a request for comment.

      While at the same time removing sanctions from some Iranian oil in a desperate bid to control prices since he’s so afraid of too much of a rise in fuel, sending mixed messages about literally everything, every day.

      Meanwhile Iran seems to be moving to letting „friendly“ nation’s tankers pass by paying a fee.

      Can someone explain to me how a landing or even an approach on to Kharg island would not be a suicide mission as all ships and troops would be sitting ducks to Iranian missiles and drones?

      I think that if the US takes Kharg Islands, Iran will or explode everything or attack it afterwards. They are in survival mode , all is accepted when you have nothing to lose.

      They will try to take Kharg Island.

      If successful wait for considerable concessions from the regime or just wait for it to collapse.

      If neither happens a full scale invasion of Iran is in the works (regime concessions or collapse).

      I don’t think the last is politically viable though if the capture of Kharg Island isn’t a resounding success with minimal casualties and economic consequences.

      yesterday morning trump said No Troops!!! and it took almost 24 hours to send troops , thought he would deploy them sooner , maybe he had a big lunch

      I don’t understand why the us civil service or equivalent is allowing this to happen. They’re supposed to give good, reliable, accurate and realistic advice on matters like this.

      But what he is doing now is what ppl feared he would do because he is not a world savvey politician.

      He is a business man and running a country of this scale is not like running a business.

      If this escalates into a full ground invasion because these troops get slaughtered then prepare to be drafted. Several millitary experts have already said you would need approx 4 million (athletic) troops to take out 1 million armed Iranians across the harsh mountainous region. Oh and this could last 10+ years if Iraq is anything to go by, which was 3 times smaller and not nearly as equipped. Also, defending ones land can be one hell of a motivation, ask Ukraine.
