  1. That’s just wrong.

    Chess in Poland didn’t come from Germany, but from Kyivian Rus. And not in the 1600s, but much earlier. Chess was known in Kyivian Rus as early as in the 8th century, where it was popularised by traders from Iran and Central Asia.

    And what’s with that name placement? Why is the Polish word „szachy“ in a place where Moscow was? And Hungarian one in Donbas?

    The map is correct only if you realize it is not an etymological map.

    Aslo, the European names of Chess are not related to the original Sanskrit word Chaturanga (Army), but the Persoan word Shah (King).
