I’m 45 minutes in and don’t listen to JRE. So far he’s done a surprisingly good job at being ‚pro Canadian‘. It’s interesting (if you’re a poli nerd, otherwise this is probably insufferable). I’ll add more.

He had an interesting pivot after being asked if 51st state caused him to lose, he starts the answer and does an excellent pivot back to the last topic on MMA and brings up an up and coming canadian. Decent deflect.

He staunchly defends and pushes back on oil sands.

His tone on refugees was interesting (in the context of ICE), surprisingly compassionate at the surface. Communicating the issue that way will do well in Quebec, I presume.

I find it reassuring that someone with no authority went to the United States and spoke to someone with no influence.

In fairness, we know what he is doing; Poilievre is striving to manufacture the image of world leader and statesman. Given the venue, I doubt he will have any success outside of Rogan’s Canadian audience. For many, his image is baked in – it’s not “angry apple eating guy”; rather, it’s “the guy who thinks ‘angry apple eating guy’ is a good idea.”

It sort of brings to mind *Tropic Thunder* – “I’m a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.”

What do *you* mean “you people*, indeed.

If he wanted to help Canada-US trade efforts, he should have gone to Washington to meet decision makers. However, I guess now at least PP has started to engage in the US one year after everyone else.

It will make 0 difference. The administration is set on tariffs and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. So long as Trump is in power there will be tariffs.

Anything better than those cancelled comedy shows. Good for him to reach out to more and more people.
If the US president doesn’t listen to us, try to reach out to people who elected him and show them the impact..

  6. Notice how he never criticized Carney directly and still believes the other party has the country’s best interests at heart. Hopefully U.S. politicians can learn from that approach.

Great podcast, didn’t badmouth the liberals once and kept it on point on what he would do differently for Canada. And explaining to Americans how tariffs are a bad thing for them and explaining to Joe how our political system works.

There wasn’t much talk on politics and more on UFC and fitness which I don’t have much knowledge on, so those parts were a bit boring.

Overall great message from Pierre and he made Canada look very well. I hope people here give it a fair and honest listen before criticizing it.

  8. Ah, so they’re going for the Ford strategy.

„If we get enough stupid people to believe the virtue signaling on nationalism, we don’t have to actually do anything about it.“

It’s a pretty tired strategy, let’s see how it works out…

  9. Talks about himself for 20 minutes and then talks martial arts with Joe for 2 hours.
I will say this was the most relaxed conversation that PP has done in a while but I do not see it helping anything other then trying to cement himself with viewers of Rogan.

What a tool. Bring back O’toole, at least he had some sense until he started to flip flop because of the base and his own attack dogs.

PP can do whatever he wants now. Hes like a make-a-wish case.

The rest of his political career plays out like:

Strengthening Liberal majority. Leadership review. Off to work as an oil industry lobbyist.

  12. I put this on another sub but there is a play here that Pierre is making, he’s making the case for free trade with Canada to a republican leaning audience. This will put pressure on Trumps dismissive/trade hawkish views towards Canada.

    Love to see it
